Playing Through the Turnaround

Written by Mylisa Larsen

I think this book could appeal to the right audience, but if I am honest, it is a bit of a snore. It is a realistic fiction–and realistic it is–as a group of students in a Jazz Lab are shocked when the school is cutting the arts programs, including their own. Together, they work to save their extra curricular and help each other in their personal problems. It is just kind of boring. Also, with so many characters with very different backgrounds and issues, it is honestly a little hard to remember who is who. This is not a terrible book by any means–but I think it needs to find its own niche audience.
