The Great Lakes: Our Freshwater Treasure

Written by Barb Rosenstock, Illustrated by Jamey Christoph

A very well crafted nonfiction picture book! The Great Lakes is one of the best nonfiction picture books I’ve read in a while. It’s great because it’s teaching you about the history of the Great Lakes in a way that’s not too wordy, and the illustrations are so well done! I learned that it takes 300 years for one drop of water to travel from lake Superior to the ocean. And I learned about the history. I love the little graphs and maps and the way it teaches in a simple way. There’s backmatter with supplemental information. The Niagra Falls spread is beautiful, as is the rest of the book! This books makes you want to take care of our water supply! A great book!
