Baba’s Peach Tree

Written by Marie Tang, Illustrated by Seo Kim

Baba’s Peach Tree is a story of a girl and her father who live in an old stone house in the country where a peach tree grows in the back. Her father, or Baba, is a migrant worker in, what I assume, is China. It’s kind of a nostalgic story. They work and go to school and always have the peaches. But when the peach tree dies, life gets harder, and they move to the city. In the end the girl takes her father back to the old stone house when he is old. She shows him a surprise. The illustrations are gorgeous, all done in a limited color palette of peach, browns, greens, and blues. Recommended for grades K-3.
