The Tenth Mistake of Hank Hooperman

Written by Gennifer Choldenko

Hank’s mom has disappeared again. The landlord is pounding on the door and they are about to be evicted. Hank takes care of his little sister “Boo” the best he can. They have no food, but Hank does like he always does, and finds a way to feed his little sister. Boo calls him, Pooperman instead of Hooperman because she is only three and he was potty training her at the time. He tries to correct her but to her he will always be: Pooperman. He can’t find his mother in any of her haunts and decides the best thing to do will be to go to the person his mom put on his form for school. He doesn’t know her and is afraid for them both. Lou Ann was a friend of his grandma’s and she takes them in until they find a safe place for them. When his mom is finally found, she is not ready to take care of them and abandons them again. Hank finds himself in losing his mother, but he and Boo find someone who will always be there for them.
