First of all, Buffalo Fluffalo has a fun title. Second of all, the illustrations are great, created from hand-carved woodcuts for the characters and combined with gouache. Thirdly, Bess Kalb uses fun words in her rhyming picture book about a grumpy, fluffy buffalo who grunts and stomps when other animals try to be friendly. It’s all about the other animals seeing through the tough exterior and showing kindness to Buffalo Fluffalo.
