Gamerville

Written and Illustrated by Johnnie Christmas

Max is a video gamer who wants to enter Gamerville, a video game competition, over the summer. Instead, his parents send him to Camp Reset, where there are no devices, video games, social media, or internet. All Max can do is think of ways to escape. In the end will he see why Camp Reset is worth it? Will his new friends help him see the light?

This story deals with interpersonal conflicts, parents not understanding what’s important to their kids, and learning to accept change. It touches on bullying and healthy ways of coping with anger. I really enjoyed the plot line and the art to match. This will be a good graphic novel for upper grade students.
