This charming novel will be an easy sell to fans of Wimpy Kid and Dork Diaries. It is fully illustrated and told from a boy and a girl’s alternating viewpoints. There’s some potty humor, but genuinely funny moments as well. Extra touches make it feel like you’re reading through a real diary, such as Doritos grease smudges and pieces of paper that look taped-in. Fifth graders will enjoy relating to the story line of relationships with best friends and classmates changing.
