Written and Illustrated by Devin Elle Kurtz
Such a charming book about an adorable young dragon who finds his own strengths. Ember isn’t a successful thief like the other dragons, but when a kind villager brings him in from a storm, Ember discovers he enjoys baking. This newfound talent ends up uniting the villagers and dragons, as they collaborate on golden baked goods instead of fighting over stolen golden treasures. The illustrations were created in Photoshop, and I loved the rich color palette, the expressions on Ember’s face, and the beautiful spreads of the rainy village. Some of the pages are wordless, while others use speech bubbles. You’ll want to stop at the bakery or mix up a fresh loaf of bread at home after reading this one!
