I See Color

An Affirmation and Celebration of Our Diverse World

Written by Valerie Bolling and Kailei Pew, Illustrated by Laylie Frazier

This informative picture book introduces its reader to many known and less familiar revolutionaries who have fought for change and have made an impact in history.

It is mind opening to learn how society can be color blind in our efforts not to discriminate. In reality, we are missing who people are by not seeing a person’s color. Our differences make us unique, and also contribute to society at large. When one willfully ignores color, it can be a detriment by not honoring the qualities they have contributed to our world.

I really enjoyed the descriptive colors the author used as she introduced each person and how the illustrator enhanced the color palettes such as, warm beige, cool amber, golden embers, and creamy pearl. This will be a future read aloud at my library this year.
