Read or listen to Lola in Granite’s Sora!
Written by Karla Arenas Valenti, Illustrated by Islenia Mil
This book does start out slow but is worth it. This book is such a wonderful book about grief, loss, love, and change. It used Hispanic folklore, fantasy, and realism. It does such a good job explaining to children how holding onto grief and pain and pretending it didn’t happen can cause you to feel ill and not live. It shows it is okay to have pain. It is okay to cry. Grief never really goes away, it becomes part of you and you change, and change is a good thing. I highly recommend this book for your library.
