Zoe Washington, a baker, has finally met her birth father, Marcus, who has been accused of a crime he didn’t commit. He is out of jail and working at a place called Ari’s Cakes. His dream is to open a restaurant. Zoe’s dad, who wants more time with Zoe, doesn’t know if they can do it. The kind Grandma wants to help. And Zoe’s loving mom wants to help, too. They eventually open a food truck. Trevor and Maya are her supportive friends who like to help and hang out. Zoe meets a nice person named Hannah seeking help.
I really liked this book. It has a good storyline which was bit confusing at first. I didn’t know who Marcus was at first or why she called him Marcus. But other than that, I thought it was good. I don’t think this will appeal to many young kids, but I enjoyed it.
