Willy and the Cloud

Written and Illustrated by Anthony Browne

Willy the Chimp is back in this eye-opening and heartfelt story about depression and/or anxiety.
It’s a beautiful day and Willy is heading to the park when he notices a cloud following him. He can’t seem to shake it (the cloud) and tries to hide from it by running back to his home and shutting the curtains. He is miserable. What can he do?
On the surface this story is just about a silly Chimp running from a cloud but when you look deeper the meaning is clear – sadness and depression can seem like a cloud following you wherever you go and dampening your joy in everyday things. Told so simply that even children will be able to understand and commiserate with Willy. A great lead-in to a discussion about depression and anxiety and how they seem to affect so many people, and at a younger and younger age.
