Astronauts: Women on the Final Frontier

Written by Jim Ottaviani, Illustrated by Maris Wicks

Astronauts: Women on the Final Frontier is not your typical read in one-sitting graphic novel. It is loaded with information about the space program and the first women that were astronauts. It is super informative, presented in a fun way, but really dense for a kids graphic novel. There are many characters, information, and settings to figure out as a reader. The illustrations are colorful and wonderful. There are a few pages where the reader can get a real feel for what space would look like and to blast off in a space shuttle. One will finish reading this book with a desire to learn more about space, NASA, and especially women astronauts. Fortunately, the end of the book is loaded with references to articles and books to learn more.
