The Slice

Killer Pizza, Book 2

Written by Greg Taylor

This is a quick-paced action story that starts as soon as you start reading. It begins with three high school students who work at Killer Pizza, which is a front for an undercover business known as Monster Combat Officers. They help to take care of monsters who are causing problems. Their first assignment is to help a new monster who wants to escape her kind to live as a human. They quickly find out tht a lot of trouble is waiting for them while trying to save the monster known as Calanthe. They become friends with her and help her get away from her pursuers. They have to battle snake-like enemies who can paralyze them with black ooze. I enjoyed this book and found that once I started reading, I had a hard time putting it down. I wanted to find out how they were going to handle the problems that faced them.

Publisher’s Description

Four months after they discover that their new place of employment, Killer Pizza, was a front for an underground Monster Hunting Organization, Toby and his fellow rookie Monster Combat Officers, Annabel and Strobe, have been invited to New York City to tour KP Headquarters. But the exclusive tour is cut short when a monster emergency sends the trio off on a secret mission delivering Calanthe, a beautiful 14-year-old, defecting monster with serpent-like abilities, into the Monster Protection Program. It seems like an easy assignment until the teens realize Calanthe is the sacrificial offering in a ceremony set to happen in a few days and her people will stop at nothing to get her back!

  1. If anyone wants a slice of Killer Pizza, I’ve got one in hardcover to give away! Leave a comment for a chance. I’ll keep this one open until 10/24/2011.

  2. The title and the cover definitely draws you in. I want to know what happens to the group and how hard it was to get her back.

This sounds intriguing…So many of our students want scary, monster books. I’d like a copy, and one of the 1st book in the series as well….

  4. This book just begs to be read. Loved the short video with all the old horror movie clips. Kids (and me) would love to read this book! I just want to know what happens too.

  5. The kind of pizza that won’t go straight to your hips. Although, I think I can probably gain five pounds just looking at a picture of pizza. I would love to read it.

  6. I think this book would be great for those who like a good mystery, but also the cover looks inviting enough that maybe someone that just liked Pizza would pick it up also. A lot of my students will only read books that the front cover interest them, even if they like the content, but the cover is not cool, they will not check the book out. I believe this book would be an asset to our library. Thanks Josh for reviewing it for us.

  7. We picked up a copy of the first book from the book fair. It has been very popular so far. Love to have its sequel to go with it.
