Harboring Hope is a true story about Denmark’s resistance to the Nazi occupation. It focuses on a heroine named Henny Sinding. The story is written in verse, interwoven with actual quotes from Henny, her friends, family, and fellow freedom fighters. Susan Hood also includes many other forms of poetry, including a few concrete poems, an ABC poem, and a list poem. She also uses many poetic techniques. The book is so well written. I would recommend it to anyone who loves history and learning about brave, inspiring people. Henny and Danish freedom fighters helped save 99 percent of the Jews living in Denmark!
