Matt Stanton is known for creating humorous characters in his stories, and this graphic novel is full of unusual, “odd” characters. They have escaped from Kip’s imagination, they are real…and really a problem. Kip lives with her father in an apartment, but with all these characters running amuck, it is hard for Kip’s father to work amongst the chaos. Now a woman dressed in a business suit and dark shades has shown up unannounced and wants to know all about the escaped characters. She’s asking questions that Kip can’t answer. With Kip wanting to avoid the mysterious woman, and Dad wanting some peace and quiet, they decide to take the Odds and go on the run. But will they escape their problems? This is a heart-filled story about anxiety, imagination, and accepting ourselves. The quality graphic illustrations move the story along.
