When your family lives in two distant countries, there are a lot of things to share and learn about when you get together. This book is beautifully drawn and shares a great message, that loves supersedes all. Felix and Grandma get to know each other when Grandma comes to America from Vietnam. Felix doesn’t know Vietnamese and Grandma doesn’t know English. They have some adventures and learn how much they love each other even when words aren’t there to help.
This is a great picture book for all young students. We have a few students that have recently come from Vietnam and any connection to Vietnam that they find in books is really encouraging. I believe they will enjoy this book more than others because it has words in Vietnamese and a bonus Vietnamese pizza recipe in the back. Beautifully written and illustrated.
