Written by Laura Driscoll, Illustrated by Catalina Echeverri
I am all for nonfiction early readers! I Want to Be a Scientist is the story of a girl who accompanies her mother on an expedition to the North Pole. She meets the scientist and gets to help out with some projects and studies. The illustrations are great! Makes you want to join the crew on the ship. I was surprised that it’s a Level 1 reading book. There’s a lot of words that would be complex for an early reader like: zoologist, seismologist, and microbiologist. But all the new vocab words are in a glossary in the back. Recommend for grades 1-2.
