Candle Island is an amazing story about a little family that moves to a new home after a great loss. On their new island home they find opportunities for healing through friendships, sacrifice, art, and solving a mystery. I loved this book and it’s beautiful portrayals of grief, healing, and love. The lessons of second chances, vulnerability, and the ever-changing nature of life are beautifully portrayed through the eyes of a young girl, her mother, and their new island friends. This book would be a great addition to any library, especially one with students who have experienced the loss of a loved one.
