Written and Illustrated by Oliver Jeffers
Hilarious new book from Oliver Jeffers, in which a boy named Floyd tries to get his kite unstuck from a tree by throwing his favorite shoe at it. Then that gets stuck, too, so of course he tries to knock it down with his other shoe. Soon the tree has everything AND the kitchen sink stuck in it. You can guess what happens, but you’d probably be wrong. Jeffers’ fun and eccentric illustrations serve this particular story well. This is ridiculous and madcap in a way that I think will really get kids going in a read-aloud situation. It adds up to one of the most fun books of the year.
