Written by Lissette Norman, Illustrated by Jayri Gomez
Alfonso and his abuela, a former school librarian, love their weekly visits to the library. They often sit under a big shady tree in their neighborhood and share the joy of reading. One day, they learn the tree must be cut down. Amid his disappointment, Alfonso comes up with a magical idea to make a little library from the stump of the tree that once brought him so much joy. The project becomes a family affair, and everyone works hard to make Alfonso’s idea a reality. Passion, family, and ingenuity saves the day as Alfonso finds his true calling to be a librarian one day too.
This book is a joyous celebration of books, libraries, and all who love them. The layers and themes interwoven within the story are uplifting and memorable. A must read that should be added to every library!
