Winner of 2012 Edgar Award (Young Adult Category)
Written by Dandi Daley Mackall
This book is full of unforgetable characters. Hope is sixteen, and her younger brother, Jeremy, hasn’t spoken a word out loud since he was nine and slapped by their alcoholic mother. Coach is found dead, murdered on his ranch and Jeremy is seen running from there with the bloodied murder weapon in his hands. We follow these characters through the town and trial of Jeremy for the murder through the eyes and voice of Hope. Of course it has a surprise ending as they find a solution to the crime and their lives.

This sounds like it might be a good book to suggest for boys. Especially those who do not like all the fantasy and dystopic books out there right now. I think I’ll put this one on my to ready list.
Congrats, you won!
Wow! This book sounds like something that’s a little more realistic than distopia. sounds like an exciting change of pace. Maybe a thriller?
love the fact that you tell us about the awards the books get thanks
We seem to have a never ending request for mysteries…especially murder ones. Being an award winner helps to shift this to the top of the list of books to add to our library
