When Sera Froste figures out the final problem to making the Infinity Ring, a handheld device for time travel, work, she and her best friend Dak Smyth are quickly initiated by the Hysterions to go through time and fix the Great Breaks in history that have created problems throughout the centuries. Although joined by Riq, a young Hysterion, they do not have time to be completely educated in what to do, and find they must rely on their own skills and each other to set history on the right path. Their first assignment: Christopher Columbus. This was a fast paced book that was hard to put down. There is plenty of action, suspense and a sprinking of middle school humor. James Dashner knows how to keep the story moving with his amazing writing skill. Reading the askew history facts that need to be corrected is a fun way to use the history in an exciting story. I really liked this book so much I had the check out the next book to keep the story moving. This series, like the 39 clues, includes a guide and instructions to play the online game. Each book is written by a different author.
