It shows young children true friendship. The humor is top rate and the black and white illustrations, with using only color for the main characters just adds to the delight of reading. I think the Bink and Gollie series is one of the best for easy chapter books for kids. Lucky is the child (or adult for that matter) who has and is a BFF like these two, Bink and Gollie.
