Papa’s Mechanical Fish

papasmechanicalWritten by Candice Fleming, Illustrated by Boris Kulikov

The creativity in each of us will thrill with the text of this book. Candace Fleming bases this book on a true event in history, the invention of the submarine. Lodner Phillips worked for years on his obsession of building the craft. The story, fictionalized by the author, is entertaining, and becomes a great read aloud with her enthusiastic “Cruuump,Clink! Clankety-bang, Thump-whirrrr,” etc. The full-page colorful illustrations are humorous and eye-catching. The end page has the history of this eccentric man and the results of his invention. A super historical fiction picture book!
