The Shadow Throne

shadowthroneBook 3 of the Ascendance Trilogy

Written by Jennifer A. Nielsen

This is the 3rd book in the Ascendance Trilogy (preceded by The False Prince and The Runaway King.) In this book war is beginning to break out in the kingdom of Carthya. Jaron must try to protect his throne and his people, but those who are against him have significantly larger numbers and more resources – weapons, etc. He is engaged to princess Amarinda, but loves another. He undergoes captivity, torture and watches as each one that is close to him seems to die in the war. The reader is captivated as he comes up with some clever ways to bring about solutions to his problems. A nice wrap-up of the series.
