Pathfinder (TodHunter Moon, Book #1)

pathfinder-todhuntermoonWritten by Angie Sage

Angie Sage has embarked on yet another “magykal” series, Todhunter Moon. Alice Todhunter Moon is her newest heroine, along with Tod’s friends Oskar and Ferdie. There is also another “magykal” lore brought to life in the lore of the Pathfinder. Tod, just 12, has become of age to learn from her father, the Village Pathfinder, the secret lore of the Pathfinder at the MidSummer Circle. But danger is lurking! Tod’s magical adventure begins soon after with the disappearance of her father at sea and her best friend Ferdie who was kidnapped by ghastly garmin. After an attempt by the garmin at Tod, she and her friend Oskar, who is Ferdie’s twin brother, are determined to rescue Ferdie from the garmin and the malevolent Lady who controls them. As adventure, danger, and mystery mount, the three are led to cross paths with Queen Jenna and ExtraOrdinary Wizard Septimus Heaps ( from Angie’s previous series) in their quest to defeat the evil and dark Wizard Oraton-Marr who is brother to the malevolent Lady.

I found this book full of Angie’s literary expertise that is rich in the use of description that captivates the imagination bringing people, animals, and places to life. That is not to mention her sense of humor! For example, Queen Jenna hiking up her queenly skirts to reveal red riding boots, or Septimus wearing a purple knit beanie in place of a wizard hat.
This was a good, fun read! I am anxious for the next book in this trilogy!
