This is a story of a family of four sisters, an alcoholic mother, and a father who escapes the family reality by immersing himself in his study of fairy tales. They have just moved full time to their summer house in New Hampshire. Silly, the youngest child, and her sisters have found magical portals in the closets of the home. These closets all the girls to escape to world that they create. This story is a good blend of realism and fantasy. This is a good read for middle school students.
