Ghosts

Written and Illustrated by Raina Telgemeier

Moving to a new town when you are a child is rarely easy, and Cat is dreading it. Her sister Maya is sick so the family is moving to Northern California, hoping the salty air will help. Cat’s neighbor, Carlos, believes in ghosts and takes the girls on a ghost tour where they actually see ghosts! Cat’s excitement turns to fear when Maya’s health declines after their ghostly encounter. This book will be a hit because of Telgemeier’s graphic novel talent and appeal. Though I was left wanting more details on the Day of the Dead, the theme of family love extending beyond the grave is an important subject and is presented well in this story. Overall, a good read.
