Bad Blood

Written by Demitria Lunetta

Most of the story takes place in Scotland. The story begins in the 1600s. Prudence and Primrose are twins and their mother is a healer. She is accused of witchcraft and is burned. As the girls grow up, they discover their own magic. In a fit of jealousy, one of the girls turns in the other. She is burned at the stake.
Fast forward to modern times. Heather cuts herself. Not randomly, but in specific patterns. After being treated in a clinic, she still has the overwhelming need to draw blood. Tying to protect her, her parents send her to Scotland. Her father was born there and they have family. Grandmother is in a rest home, losing her memory, and her aunt has terminal cancer.
Heather has friends there and reconnects with them. She can’t stop the urge to cut herself, but tries to hide it. She hears and sees things, and has vivid nightmares. She discovers that Prudence and Primrose are channeling through her. They hate each other and they want to use Blood Magic to destroy the other.
Heather is a good person, but the urge to use Blood Magic is overwhelming. She tries to heal her aunt, and things go terribly wrong. There are others around her that are also witches, and finally step in to help her.
