Thomas Jefferson Grows a Nation

Written by Peggy Thomas, Illustrated by Stacy Innerst

This picture book biography focuses on Thomas Jefferson’s passion for agriculture. He loved to scatter seeds, cultivate the earth, and farm. His love for the earth is paralleled in this book as Thomas Jefferson plants seeds of liberty as a Founding Father for the United States. The illustrations compliment the text in this book. This book is packed with interesting facts and stories of his life. The long text is a bit too much for the younger end of it’s target audience. Even though it is a picture book meant to appeal to younger grades, the text is written for older students. This is the reason I have not given this book a higher rating. Besides this, it is a delightful, well organized book.
