Cucumber Quest, #1
Written by Gigi D.G.
In this graphic novel there is, uhm, quite the predicament, hon. So don’t try to make any sense of it, man, because you will become so confused with the many, many, many, villans, bad guys, good guys, rabbit guys, food guys, bakery guys, guy guys, boys that look like girl guys, bakery guys (did I say that already?), et cetera that your brain will just be confused. Is there a plot? Will all the good guys fight all the time, drawing attention away from what the plot is? Man, I could barely make sense of it, hon. The main bunny character is Cucumber, AKA Cuco, not Zucchini, not Camembert either. The bravest of the Kingdom of Caketown is his little sister, Almond, who has experience sword fighting, but since she is a girl, she isn’t considered in the possibility of the hero position. Oh! Let’s not forget the terrible, horrible, Grizzlygum, who is huge and has scary claws, but no teeth, and therefore has a speech impediment which is difficult to decipher as you read! So many characters, even the Oracle can’t keep them straight.
I suppose kids will like this mess of a book. They may even love it, man. But what a TLB (or is it BLT?- I wish they would introduce themselves in order!) of a nightmare! Decide for yourself, hon! And as a conclusion to this review, let me add, that contained in the final pages of this saga, is a character description, and other worthless sketches, obviously! Don’t hold your breath for volume 2: The Ripple Kingdom followed by The Melody Kingdom, and several others. “In some circles, there are whispers of another world parallel to Dreamside. No one knows how to get there or what might be waiting on the other side… But do they really want to?” World Domination!
Give back the Dream Sword, man. Thanks Mom and Dad. Egads! This catastrophe must be prevented by any means necessary.
