I did not expect to like this book, maybe because of the title, but I really liked it! It is a fun story about a typical boy named Derek that keeps your interest throughout each chapter. It kind of had a Diary of a Wimpy Kid feel with the shenanigans and mishaps that occur throughout his relationships with his family and friends at school. A unique and enjoyable part of the book are the simple illustrations on each page portraying difficult vocabulary words used in the story. So that’s a plus. It also sneaks in valuable life lessons throughout the story. This book is the seventh in a series. I will definitely be ordering the series for our library. I think kids will love it!
