Families can be complicated. Jarrett’s mom is an addict. He has never met his father, and from a young age he has been raised by his grandparents. Jarrett’s mom is in and out of his life. And, soon he realizes that he’s not quite in a normal situation. His grandparents don’t have a perfect relationship, but they do their best that they can with their small family. With a talent for art and cartooning, Jarrett learns to deal with the ups and downs of his life. This autobiographic graphic novel deals with some difficult circumstances such as drugs, alcohol, and addiction. It also contains some language. Overall, the novel is engaging and heart breaking. This should be a must read.
