Thanks to the enthusiastic literacy promotion and organizing of media clerk Andrea Lebaron, students at Upland Terrace read literally thousands of Beehive nominee books this year (an average of 12 books per student), and submitted the most votes per student of any school in state of Utah.

In a special school assembly with the Children’s Literature Association of Utah, Upland Terrace Elementary received a trophy (previously held by Rolling Meadows Elementary, another Granite school that won this competition last year) and $500.00 in new books for the school library. Mrs. Lebaron will likely use those funds to get copies of next year’s Beehive nominees. At the assembly Upland Terrace students were also the first to learn the statewide winners of the Beehive Book Awards. Mrs. Lebaron and students from each grade created the announcements, also recording them for the official video prior to the assembly.
