Puddle

Written by Richard Jackson, Illustrated by Chris Raschka

A rainy day (or anytime) story told in rhyming verse from the perspective of a put-upon puddle. Raschka illustrations are the hit for me as the cadence of the text is a little forced. His watercolor artwork is the perfect backdrop for a rainy day puddle showing various reflections and activities. The ending is delightful because who doesn’t like a rainbow? This would be a great book to share with students as a way to discuss perspective in literature and maybe even inspire them to write their own stories from different points of view.
