The Girl Who Speaks Bear

Written by Sophie Anderson

This book beautifully captured what it feels like to be different and want a place to belong. The main character has an emotionally and mentally believable path of development that is accented with fantasy and legends from northeastern Europe. It brings the reader through different perspectives from many different types of characters. It also portrays how we can learn from all stories, no matter how fantastical they seem, by showing us how the main character and her friends do.

This was a wonderful read that I am excited to share with my students.
