Shuri (A Black Panther Novel)

Written by Nic Stone

This is a great addition to the Marvel stories. Shuri is easy to root for. She is the Black Panther’s little sister who can solve problems through her scientific prowess. In this story, she is tasked with the chore of saving the plants that give the Black Panther his incredible powers. They are starting to die without explanation. And on top of that, her country is under attack.

This story is a crazy adventure that takes Shuri from her homeland to places she hopes will shed light on her current challenge. We get to enjoy seeing how the ingenuity of a young girl from Wakanda can save her whole country and way of life. This is a great book for young girls to read in order to see themselves as the heroes of their own stories.

I think this book fills a need in our library and recommend it to other libraries. Kids who enjoy action-filled books and, of course, the Black Panther storyline, will enjoy reading it.
