Written and Illustrated by Juana Martinez-Neal
Zonia is a little girl living in the Peruvian Amazon Forest. Her story is easy to enjoy and follow, with a little blue butterfly to search for on every page. She loves her surroundings and the animals that live there. But as she discovers the part of her forest that has been logged, she is shocked and answers the call to protect her land as an Ashaninka tribe member.
Lots of great info is in the back of the book explains more about Zonia’s people and the Amazon Forest, as well as the names of all the animals that are in this book. This book has beautiful art and it is easy to get kids interested in it.
