Five friends are looking for something “terrific” to do one afternoon – Owl, Badger, Mandrill, Turtle, and Anteater – but they all have different ideas about what is terrific. They try climbing, swimming, and hanging from their toes, which work for some of them, but not all. While they try to decide what is terrific for all of them, snake slithers in with a few ideas of his own, like squeezing and swallowing animals whole! The five friends will need to decide what is best for all of them before snake gets his way. While this story is fun, the star of the book is the illustrations by author Sophie Gilmore. They are detailed, beautifully muted, and artistic. It was the cover that drew me in. Kids will love this “terrific” book!
