Rose’s father is the town’s magic collector and Rose, nicknamed Little Luck, is expected to follow in his footsteps. This will be Rose’s first year, as she is 12, that she is able to collect magic with her family. However, when the New Year comes, she barely collects one tiny jar of magic because she can’t “hear” the magic like her father and brother. At this, her once loving and doting father ignores her and withdraws his attention.
