Beetle Battles

One Scientist’s Journey of Adventure and Discovery

Written by Doug Emlen

You don’t have to be a beetle lover like me to enjoy Beetle Battles. Emlen focuses on the evolution of the dung beetle, but readers will enjoy the many photos and details about beetles in general. One of my favorite is the photo of the rhinoceros beetle. That horn is huge! A mind-blowing fact is that “some estimate that one out of every four species on the planet is a beetle!” Beetles are creepy, useful, and beautiful, and this book is a winner.
