Yoshi And the Ocean is an incredible true story of a Loggerhead Sea Turtle named Yoshitaro. Injured while young and rescued by Japanese fishermen, Yoshi spends 20 years healing and being cared for in an aquarium in Cape Town, South Africa. After two decades, a tracking device is attached to her shell and she is released back into the ocean. Not knowing where she is from, scientists track her 982 day and 25,000 mile journey back to the sea turtle nesting grounds in the Western shores of Australia.
This was a fascinating story and the illustrations were beautifully realistic! I especially loved the information and map of Yoshi’s journey at the back of the book. Would definitely recommend it!Reviewed by Jennifer Young, Librarian, Woodstock Elementary
