Lupe Lopez: Rock Star Rules! = ¡Reglas de una estrella de rock!

Written by e. E. Charlton-Trujillo and Pat Zietlow Miller, Illustrated by Joe Cepeda

I read this to our two preschool classes to get their thoughts on the book–they gave it anywhere from 5 to 100 stars! The book is really nice as it explains rule following and what is right/wrong really easily. But also, I enjoyed that it showed that while maybe some things are not appropriate at school (i.e. making lots of noise drumming on your desk), it is okay to wait until you can do those things, like after school. The girl in the story learned quickly and gained awesome friends from following the rules. Overall, I loved it!! Plus, I love the fact that all the characters are Hispanic–our kids loved seeing someone like them in the pages of this book.

This is a fun story about children learning how to follow rules not only for school, but also for out of school activities. It shows great diversity in its pictures and teaches a great lesson in a fun way.
