Written by Tacko Fall and Justin Haynes, Illustrated by Reggie Brown
At seven-feet six-inches tall, Tacko Fall is the tallest player in the NBA and one of the tallest people in the world. Tacko tells his life story of growing up in Dakar, Senegal in West Africa. As a boy he liked school and playing sports and games with friends. It seemed he was always too tall to fit into the desks at school and he was often teased for his height. His mom had encouraging words for Tacko and reminded him that his ancestors were leaders and kings. As a young teenager, Tacko started on a basketball journey that took him to America to play high school basketball in order to get drafted into the NCAA, and ultimately to play professional basketball. His dream finally came true as he was able to play for the Boston Celtics in the NBA. The book has wonderful full-page illustrations and includes Tacko’s advice to work hard, stay focused and determined, and have courage to do hard things in order to achieve your dreams.
