I can just hear the 2nd grade girls saying “Aww…” as I read this story out loud. This is the story of the unexpected friendship between a young girl and the dog on the other side of the fence. The dog comes to depend on the girl as she visits him daily with snacks and even reads aloud to him. They go on wonderful adventures together. Then one night during a horrible storm the dog gets out. I won’t spoil it for you, but the book definitely pulls at your heartstrings and has a perfect ending.
