This was almost a DNF. I struggled hardcore through the book. This was definitely a story for youngerish grades. It has some history behind the Great Chicago Fire. I think the tell was too much, and there was too much going on and there are a lot of unanswered questions. I teach 4th grade, and I would like to say this is a great book for them, but there is some swearing, so be cautious. They hear it and see it other places, but I teach that is more home language than school language. It was an interesting read, but often very dark. I didn’t enjoy it. The end got really exciting so I gave it 3 stars, but I would not recommend.
