Written by e.E. Charlton-Trujillo and Pat Zietlow Miller, Illustrated by Joe Cepeda
Lupe Lopez is a rock star! In kindergarten she and her friends started a rock band. Her rock band is a huge success. In first grade Lupe came up on something that is not easy for her. Lupe just cannot figure out this reading thing. No matter what, she just can’t do it. Lupe gets depressed and just gives up because music is easy, reading is hard. When she heard someone at the fruit stand calling out his produce… she heard a beat. She started tapping out the different fruits and figured out that reading is the same thing. She understands that reading is like music, it has a beat to it. Reading is like music! I just need to see the beat. Students who have a hard time reading will love this book.
