Although many topics in this book are “heavy,” Sara Zarr writes beautifully from a middle-grade perspective, so I would have no trouble recommending this to young readers. I think this book will resonate with readers who may have an alcoholic parent, have had to change schools, or adjust to life with a step-parent.I loved Lou’s voice because you just felt like she was honest and shared her true feelings.
