I really like this book! The illustrations are beautifully done in ink and colored pencil that remind me of the style of Where the Wild Things Are. Randi Sonenshine uses a poetic style of writing to tell the story of beavers and how they built dams. The book has a lot of sound words and visual imagery words to describe the life of the beaver, with the challenges they face in the wild from coyotes to floods. The backmatter includes facts about beavers and a glossary.
